Anjali

Anjali is a Sanskrit word that means "divine or sacred offering," and that which is sacred is often protected. From this perspective, we might view your Anjali as a divine offering that is hidden inside of, or protected by, that which also causes you pain. The above words of Thich Nhat Hanh suggest suffering can show us the way to freedom, supporting the idea that hidden within suffering is a direct pathway to liberation in your mind, body, heart, and spirit. 

Being alive guarantees the experience of pain and suffering. Suffering can stem from a challenged capacity to fully cope with painful difficulties, especially when there is an abundance of difficulties and a scarcity of resources for dealing with them. When such painful difficulty arises, many of us may find ourselves attached to it in such a way that our quality of life is eroded. 

The good news is that, while much of the pain that we experience simply by being alive might be unavoidable, and often beyond our control, the suffering that we experience—that is, the way in which we relate to the unavoidable pains of life and experience them in our bodies— is completely optional and within our control.

In other words, how you relate to the experience of painful diffuclty, in whatever form it takes in your life, is directly related to how much suffering you experience in your mind and body.
